Donna and Baxter
Donna Brooks earned her Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and her Master’s degree in Criminology and formerly worked with juvenile delinquents for the State of Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, and then with abused and neglected children and people with developmental disabilities, in the social services field before deciding to pursue her passion of working with dogs.
Donna attended the Bay Area Pet Grooming Academy in Tampa, Florida. Following her graduation, she worked at a local grooming salon working alongside a former show groomer before opening her own shop in St. Petersburg, Florida. She has always had a love of dogs, and is thrilled to be able to turn that love into a career! After mourning the loss of her beloved chocolate lab-shar pei mix "Baxter", Donna adopted a chocolate lab mix named "Charlie" from a shelter in Arkansas. Charlie loves going to "work" and can often be found hanging around the grooming shop!
UPDATE: We lost our Charlie in September 2022 and are currently “in between dogs” as we are still mourning his loss.
UPDATE JUNE 2024: We now have a new shop dog! We adopted Sanford from the Labrador Retriever Rescue of Florida and he recently started coming into work. Sanford absolutely loves meeting new people so be sure to say “Hello” to him when you come in!
