Central Bark Grooming by Donna

Q.  Will my dog be there all day?

A.  Typically, no.  All dogs are scheduled by appointment only.  The average length of time your pet will be here is one-and-one-half to two hours.  In special circumstances, and only with prior arrangements, your dog may be dropped off before you go to work and then picked up at lunchtime.  Crate space is limited so we appreciate that you pick up your dog when the groom is completed.

Q.  What if my dog has fleas?

A.  Please let us know ahead of time if your dog has fleas.  If we find your pet has fleas, we will treat your dog with special shampoo, followed by a natural leave-on spray.  Please note there will be a small additional charge for the flea treatment.

Q.  My dog is scratching.  Is there anything you can do?

A.  Yes.  We use an all-natural moisturizing shampoo and leave-in conditioner that really does wonders for your pet's skin!  There is a small additional charge for this service.  Please note, however, that if your dog is itchy due to seasonal allergies, this service may not help.  It's also a good idea to consult with your vet, and if a special shampoo is prescribed  we'll be happy to use it.

Q.  My dog's fur has become matted.  What options do I have?

A.  Depending on the severity of the matting, we can de-mat your dog, or your dog's coat may need to be taken down very short ("stripped"), which in some cases is the safest option for your pet.  There will be an additional charge for these services.

Q.  Can anything be done about my dog's shedding?

A.  Yes!  You can request that your dog also receive a de-shedding treatment for a small additional charge.  You will notice a huge difference in the amount of hair your dog leaves behind after this treatment.

Q.  My dog can be resistant to grooming or difficult / bites.  Will you still groom him or her?

A.  That depends on the dog.  If your dog is  able to be muzzled, we may still try to groom him or her, working around the muzzle.  Usually, resistant dogs require more time to complete the groom which will result in added fees. Because the safety of your dog is our top priority, sometimes a difficult dog is better off being groomed in a vet's office.

Q.  Do you accept walk-in appointments?

A.  Most days are filled to capacity so we typically do not have time for walk-in appointments for a full groom.  However, if your dog only needs a bath and nail trim, or even just a nail trim, we can usually fit that in the same day.

Q.  What types of payment do you accept?

A.  We accept cash or personal checks for payment.

Q.  I'm running late for my dog's grooming appointment.  What should I do?

A.   Please call if you're going to be more than 5-10 minutes late for your dog's appointment.  Each dog is allotted a certain amount of time for it's appointment, and arriving late could throw off the rest of that day's appointments.  In some cases if you're more than 10 minutes late it may be necessary to reschedule your dog's appointment so we can stay on time for the rest of that day's appointments.

Q.  What should I do if I can't keep my dog's scheduled appointment?

A.  A minimum of 48 hours (during business hours Monday through Friday) is required to cancel without possible penalty of up to the cost of the groom.  Please call as soon as you know you won't be able to keep the appointment.  If you call early enough, we may still be able to fill that time slot.  If you fail to show up for your dog's appointment and we do not hear from you, future appointments may not be available to you.  Last minute cancellations and no-shows cost us money (the cost of the groom) and prevent another customer from getting their dog groomed that day.
